Iota Phi Lambda has devoted an abundance of time and effort to serving and addressing the needs of the community and awards to individuals who have made a difference in the community. The following is a list of awards and projects.
OUTSTANDING WOMAN OF THE YEAR
LOLA M. PARKER AWARD
The nominees are chosen for their outstanding work in business and their contribution to the community.
OUTSTANDING SOROR OF THE YEAR
THE MAHALA S. EVANS AWARD
This award is given to recognize those sorors who have contributed most to the Sorority during the past two years, including participation in local, regional and national programs and projects and community activities.
The tutoring project is reaching out to those in need on an individual basis or a group. The Tutorial Project is to provide tutorial services for students in grades 9-12.
This project encourages local chapters and regional directors to participate in the work of projecting career education among our sorors, auxiliaries and youths in our community.
TOYS "U" CAN'T RETURN
This project provides financial and educational assistance to teen parents who wish to complete high school or seek higher education.
SCHOLARSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP AWARDS
Academic scholarships are awarded to high school seniors on the local, regional and national levels and also offers a scholarship to a member of the FILS (Future Intellectual Leaders). Winners are selected on the basis of their SAT or ACT scores, as well as additional eligibility requirements as selected
by Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.
IOTA NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST
This contest is open to all eligible FIGS (Future Iota Girls) and FILS (Future Intellectual Leaders). The essay is based on the National American Education Week theme.
